Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Grand Rapids is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Grand Rapids follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. There was a problem with our booking, but Leah fixed everything; but not without the help of our instructor, Fumi (sorry for what I'm sure was a terrible spelling). She was so fun, informative, easy to follow, and an absolute treat. She didn't just say, "Okay, now add this, now add that..." She explained *why* we're adding this, and why it was being added at that time. So it wasn't just someone telling you how to make a dish, but teaching you how to cook. All of the employees seemed so happy to be there, and some were even quietly singing along to whatever song was calmly playing in the background. On top of all that, the food was delicious and we were sure to pass our compliments on to the chefs (you're welcome).

We had a fabulous date night and fantastic meal at The Local Epicurean! We made the Calabrian chili smoked salmon ravioli and it was delicious. Excellent and unique cocktails as well. The instructors we had, Kaitlyn and Fumi, were excellent teachers and a lot of fun to chat and joke around with. At the end of the night, we immediately booked another date night at The Local Epicurean!

So. Much. Fun. Our instructor was informative and engaging. We made two different pastas and the best tiramisu I've ever had (and now I have the recipe)! I highly recommend!

We booked a cooking class for a fun date night and TLE did not disappoint! Our chef/teacher Fuma was an incredible host; she brought great energy, cooking tips and dance moves to the evening. I couldn't recommend her enough! The drinks were great, and the food was delicious. Such a great evening and we'll be back for sure to try other classes / dish's.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem a while back and finally made it back for a cooking classβit was even better than we remembered! David was a phenomenal instructor, guiding us through an incredible 3-course meal: shrimp scampi, lobster tortellini, and a refreshing limoncello sorbetto. Absolutely amazing flavors! We already canβt wait to return and highly recommend giving them a try!
